Welcome

Welcome to the professional showcase of Eric Charles Hawkinson.
The main purpose of this site is to talk about my projects and hopefully encourage collaboration. My guiding philosophy compels me to try to be open and useful to my students, colleagues, and community. It is my hope that this website can serve to help me connect and contribute with those around me and people with similar interests and goals.
Some of those goals include:
- Community involvement
I have a desire to contribute as a member to efforts happening about me. Especially after becoming a teacher I have found the joy of working with others to achieve a goal.
- Personal transparency
In an age where we are increasingly aware of our online and outward persona we are more concerned with privacy issues in our personal and professional lives. I have the belief that if I personally hold the position that I will commit to divulge most information about my work life I can in a sense have more control on my outward persona.
- Be the best possible at what I do
From teaching, designing coursework or curriculum, developing materials, conducting research, or even in sports I have a strong desire to do things well. For me that mostly means constantly finding ways to improve.
I am interested in hearing from anyone who feels like they want to collaborate on any of the projects or other endeavors found in this portfolio. Please feel free to send any comments or inquires without hesitation. I would also enjoy a simple greeting.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you.
Sincere Regards,
Eric Charles Hawkinson

| TeamTeachers.com
Because education should be a team effort. TeamTeachers.com is a website I started to develop in 2007 when I was working at the board of education in Miyazu, Japan. I was working in the JET scheme and although we had a lot of orientation and ongoing teacher training I saw a need for materials exchange. At the time I was also creating lessons and materials constantly and I wanted a way to share them with my colleagues. It is a place for ESL teachers to share ideas and teaching materials. |
TogetherLearning.com
Because education should be free. TogetherLearning is a place where you can go to study English for free. It has a complete learning environment that contains full on-line English courses I have designed for people of all ages learning English as a second language. It is also where I keep suplimentary coursework for my English courses taught. |
ForeverKyoto.com Introducing the Kyoto you may not know. ForeverKyoto is a project I started to help the community for which I have lived for many years. Northern Kyoto Prefecture has many wonderful things to share to the world yet international tourism is non-existent comparing to the actual city of Kyoto. This is a site for Japanese tourism promoters to participate in research I conduct on thier behalf on ways to increase and improve international tourism in rural Japan. It also provides international travelers a unique window into tourist spots that traditionally are domestic tourist spots. |
